Nylann tells us about electrical coils and windings
On Wednesday November 27, the operation of dismantling and discovery of this machine secrets was succesful.Maxence and his classmates Angelo, Nylann, Corentin and Tom proceeded to dismantle the speaker with its transformer, for an easier access to the electrical components.Maxence, full of determination, unsoldered some cables which had been eaten by time and dust. So, he replaced these cables by new ones. They were needed to connect different electrical components. (resistors, capacitors, potentiometers, lamps, etc.…)Indeed we’ll have to change other faulty connection wires of some old windings with the utmost care, these windings are constituted of very little fragile wires. Thats why, our students proceeded to dismantle the metal frame of one of the capacitor, letting the english teacher start the unscrewing, (the right way of course, not to make some people laugh!) After several minutes, and with the perseverance of a determined Corentin, we successfully digged out this wiring, nicely protected by its metal frame.Another small step forward for our historical electricians who are discovering happiness with components of the past.Next time, our MELEC students wil continue this tedious but necessary task of replacing other aged wires and Sir Mac Guellever will make them discover other electronic circuit diagram secrets of this beautiful machinery.
